On Thursday, the Phoenix Suns announced that Japanese guard, Takuya Kawamura, has been added to the team’s 2009 Las Vegas Summer League roster.
Kawamura most recently lent his services to the Link Tochigi Brex of the Japanese Basketball League for whom he averaged 20.4 points per game for last season. This past season, he opted not to play for the Japanese national team, instead deciding to pursue a home in the NBA.
As of now, former Sun Yuta Tabuse is the only Japanese player ever to play in the NBA. Tabuse and Kawamura are former teammates.
