Hopefully everyone had a great Christmas and is gearing themselves up for a safe and Happy New Year. For me each Christmas seems to be better than the last, probably because my two little boys are getting more and more into the Christmas spirit each year.
It was great being able to bribe them with the threat of Santa avoiding houses of little boys that weren't nice- only problem with that is now I am not sure what I'm going to do for the next 11 months. My three year old capped Christmas off for me by telling me that " this was the best Christmas he had ever had". I am not too sure that he remembered the last two but with that was the best gift a Dad could have received.
A brief recap from the start of the 2006-2007 season. We began the campaign in Europe which was a tremendous team building experience for us besides being an experience that I am sure we all look back upon with fond memories. The season started with high expectations and predictions yet only a week or so into the season and a less than stellar start the Suns were quickly being written off as title contenders. How quickly some people can forget that this was in large part the same team that was only a win away from the finals last season. Things have since turned around after a franchise best fifteen game win streak. If there is one thing that I can take away with me from my years with various NBA teams is that the NBA season is a very long one records and leads change quickly over the space of the year. An old vet once told me that "it is a game and season of streaks whomever has the longest and the last will more than likely be the one left standing, and to never get to high or too low just to stay even keel."
We have now embarked on another East coast swing which will see the Suns bring in the New Year in Chicago. I must admit I have packed a little warmer and a few additional items this time since I learned how bad it can be being snowed in and having to stay three days in the same hotel room (Denver trip). Hence I am hoping for no snow, we all saw enough of the white stuff to last us a while.
I have never been one for New Year resolutions, probably because like most people I find it tough sticking to them. I just hope that as a team we can reach our goal, continue to have a lot of fun and bring even more excitement along the way.
Happy 2007 Suns fans.
